Setting Linux Kernel cmdline parameters

Modified on Thu, 8 Aug, 2024 at 12:04 PM

The easiest way to do this is Via SSG putty due to being able to copy and paste parameters.

Boot into OS, log into root user: Run systemctl status ssh. This will check + confirm SSH server is running. ( should be at default )

We then need to adjust the PermitRootLogin, to do this we run " nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config "

Make sure you have a RG45 cable in the active port, type " ip a" grab the IP set,

open putty, connect to said ip, once connected, should look something like this,

type " nano /etc/default/grub " enter

navigate down to " GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= " Set the Parameters you require "

Press left shift + X to exit, you will be prompted to save the buffer - select yes. Reboot then check the grub has updated
